PSMA (EP192)

A type II transmembrane glycoprotein with enzymaticactivity is known as prostate-specific membrane antigen(PSMA). Both prostate neoplastic cells and normal prostateepithelial cells express PSMA. Prostate cancer has beenshown to exhibit elevated PSMA expression, which isassociated with the advancement of the disease. PSMAidentifies a portion of non-prostate organs, such as thekidney and small intestine, despite being extremelysensitive and specific for the prostate. PSMA can be usedto differentiate prostate cancer from urothelial carcinomaand to detect metastatic prostate carcinoma4.
