Alpha-1-Fetoprotein is normally synthesized in the liver, intestinal tract, and yolk sac of the fetus. Antibody to AFP has been found to be useful in detecting hepatocellular carcinomas (HCC) and germ cell neoplasms, such as yolk sac tumors.
This antibody reacts with alpha-1-fetoprotein. A positive staining in the hepatocytes of fetal tissue was observed. This antibody does not react with other cell or tissue types.
