GR441/Rabbit/Monoclonal
GeneBio’s recombinant rabbit antibody recognizes Placental Alkaline Phosphatase (PLAP), a 70kDa membrane-bound isozyme (Regan and Nagao type) which is expressed in the placenta during the 3rd trimester of gestation. GeneBio’s PLAP antibody is highly specific and shows no cross-reaction with other isozymes of alkaline phosphatase. GeneBio’s antibody to PLAP reacts with germ cell tumors and can discriminate between these and other neoplasms. Somatic neoplasms including breast, gastrointestinal, prostatic, and urinary cancers may also immunoreact with the PLAP antibody. PLAP positivity in conjunction with anti-keratin negativity favors seminoma over carcinoma. Typically, germ cell tumors are anti-keratin positive, but regularly fail to stain with anti-EMA, whereas most carcinomas stain with anti-EMA. Additionally, PLAP as a marker can be useful in the diagnosis of gestational trophoblastic disease.
