Product Overview
Clone: Polyclonal
S-100, Polyclonal, is a broadly reactive antibody preparation that detects members of the S-100 protein family, a group of low molecular weight, calcium-binding proteins involved in various cellular processes including cell growth, differentiation, cytoskeletal dynamics, and intracellular signaling. These proteins are expressed in a wide range of tissues, most notably in cells derived from the neural crest such as Schwann cells, melanocytes, and glial cells, as well as in chondrocytes, adipocytes, and myoepithelial cells. The polyclonal nature of this antibody allows it to recognize multiple epitopes across different S-100 isoforms, providing robust and sensitive nuclear and cytoplasmic staining in formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue sections. S-100 is widely used in diagnostic pathology as a key marker in the identification of melanomas, nerve sheath tumors, and certain histiocytic and dendritic cell lesions. Its broad reactivity and high sensitivity make the polyclonal S-100 antibody an indispensable tool in both routine diagnostic workflows and research applications involving neuroectodermal and mesenchymal differentiation.
