Product Overview

Clone: GM204

This gene encodes a protein that belongs to the transmembrane 4 superfamily, also referred to as the tetraspanin family. The majority of these proteins are cell-surface proteins with four hydrophobic domains, and they mediate signal transduction events that regulate cell development, activation, growth, and motility. The encoded protein is located in the asymmetrical unit membrane (AUM), where it can complex with other transmembrane 4 superfamily proteins. It may be involved in normal bladder epithelial physiology, possibly controlling the permeability of superficial umbilical cells or stabilising the apical membrane through interactions between the AUM and cytoskeleton. The protein may also be involved in tumour suppression.
