CDX-2 is a transcription factor belonging to the caudal-related homeobox family that contributes to the formation and upkeep of the intestinal mucosa. This protein is expressed in both normal and neoplastic gastrointestinal epithelium, such as colorectal adenocarcinoma. It is helpful in determining the gastrointestinal origin of benign and malignant lesions.
