Oct-2 (MRQ-2)

Octamer-binding transcription factor-2 (Oct-2) belongs to the POU homeo-domain family of transcription factors. It attaches to octamer regions of immunoglobulin genes and is essential for the development and differentiation of B-cells, as well as for maintaining B-cell identity. Oct-2 is found in a specific group of normal B-lymphocytes and is also present in different types of B-cell lymphomas, including nodular lymphocyte predominant Hodgkin lymphoma. In contrast, it is generally absent in the Reed–Sternberg and Hodgkin (RS/H) cells associated with classical Hodgkin lymphoma.
