
An opportunistic pathogen called cytomegalovirus (CMV)can infect the lung, kidney, stomach, and other organs inimmunocompromised individuals, such as fetuses andnewborns. Immunocompromised patients, including thosereceiving chemotherapy, transplant recipients, and HIV-positive individuals, can also become infected.
