Human growth hormone (GH) is comprised of a single-chain polypeptide made up of 191 amino acid units and includes two disulfide bonds. GH plays a role in various biological processes including the metabolism of proteins, carbohydrates, and fats, and is also significant for growth, development, and immune response. GH is produced in acidophilic cells located in the anterior part of the pituitary gland by a specific group of cells that exhibit the somatotroph phenotype. Anti-GH serves as an important marker for categorizing pituitary tumors and can be beneficial in investigating pituitary disorders.
