Sal-like protein 4 (SALL4) is a zinc-finger transcription factor that functions as a principal regulator of embryonic pluripotency and plays a role in processes related to stem cell activities. SALL4 expression in germ cells renders it a valuable marker for germ cell tumors, including seminoma, embryonal carcinoma, yolk sac tumors, and teratomas. Additionally, SALL4 expression is observed in the spermatogonia of healthy testis.
